August Donation - Heidi Wrangles Cats

August Donation - Heidi Wrangles Cats

Heidi is awesome....I can't say enough about them. The endless efforts to help the street cats of our community...to get them out of dangerous situations, to take care of them, to get them into forever homes. It can take a toll on an individual. Cat rescues here in NYC are over capacity. The city shelters have closed their doors to intakes, which means more cats are being dumped onto the street. Rescue requires incredible patience, as it requires dealing with the community. It requires patience to find the cats in need and how to capture them safely. It takes a toll, mentally, and physically.

Over the 4th of July weekend this year, I noticed a young mommy cat and her 4 kittens across the street from my apartment. They were crouching underneath cars, dumpsters, and garbage at the corner sound shop. Mommy cat was a bit terrified of me when I approached, but her kittens were fearless! I messages as many rescues as I could think of that serviced my area and then realized that no one was going to respond to me during the holiday weekend. Someone did! Backyard Cats of Bedstuy sent me a message about someone called Heidi. They had been in contact with the shop for awhile, trying to wrangle, neuter, and return the multitude of cats that resided there. I came to learn that there were a lot more mommy cats and kittens that were struggling to survive at this one location. I was asked to continue to feed the mommy cat and kittens that I had befriended. Morning and night on my way to work and back home, I would visit with them...feed them, and get them more acclimated to being around a friendly human. For the next month, I looked forward to visiting with them. Mommy and a two of her babies were polydactyl. That means that hey have an extra toe on their front paws. I miss their big ol' toes!

In August, Heidi was able to trap all of them! They got baths and started to enjoy the indoor cat life. Look at Mommy cat, happy making biscuits!

I donated $50.00 in August to Heidi while she was rescuing these sweet babies. As you all know, I have two rescues at home, Fiona & Big Man, and I take care of a lot of cats in the neighborhood.

Normally, my donation posts is done as follows: I give $1 for each item purchased through my website and then round it up. I only sold one item in the month of August. I was able to donate more to Heidi's rescue because I am fortunate to receive help from my friends that I have made online.  I wish I could donate more right now, but even I am stretched thin at the moment.

You should definitely follow Heidi on Instagram: Heidi Wrangles Cats

Thank you Heidi, for everything that you do!
